About Us: Join our dedicated Afterschool Program Team at Empowering Success Now, where we provide afterschool tutoring, wellness, and enrichment for middle school students in Fontana. Our mission is to support students in their academic journey and inspire a love for learning in a safe, nurturing environment. 

Position Overview: We are seeking dynamic and enthusiastic Academic Aides who will also take on the role of Enrichment Instructor. This part-time position is ideal for those passionate about education and eager to engage middle school students in academic support and creative enrichment activities. As an Academic Aide you will work with an assigned group of students and act as a positive role model, academic coach, and mentor. Academic Aides must have a genuine interest in the growth, development, and provision of a safe and nurturing environment for the students they tutor. An aide’s ability to establish respectful authority and connections through leadership, communication, and most importantly patience, will be required in giving our students the stability and nurturing atmosphere they need to succeed. Ensuring that our students reach their potential takes a tremendous amount of hard work, flexibility, and commitment. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Academic Support: 

- Assist students with homework assignments and projects, providing individual and group tutoring in core subjects such as Math, Science, English, and Social Studies. 

-Help students develop effective study habits and organizational skills. 

- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents. 

- Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging that kids want to be in. 

- Support students in making positive behavior choices and take disciplinary measures when appropriate. 

• Enrichment Instruction: 

- Deliver engaging enrichment lessons and activities that complement the academic and wellness curriculum and promote critical thinking and creativity. 

- Implement activities and projects that cover a variety of topics, including science experiments, art projects, coding, mindfulness, and healthy living. 

- Encourage student participation and foster a positive and inclusive learning environment. 

• Program Support: 

- Assist in the supervision of students during program hours to ensure a safe and structured environment. 

- Collaborate with the program staff to coordinate and implement activities and events. 

- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and participation and submit accurate reports. 

Qualifications: 

• Experience working with middle school students in an educational or extracurricular setting preferred. 

• Basic knowledge in core academic subjects and the ability to provide effective tutoring. 

• Creativity and enthusiasm to help coach students and lead enrichment activities. 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing needs and priorities. 

Additional Requirements: 

• Ability to pass a background check. 

• Availability to work weekday afternoons and early evenings 22 to 25 hours per week. 

• M-T-Th-F: 2:30pm to 6:30pm and Wednesdays 1:00pm to 6:30pm
