SUMMARY

Coordinates activities of driver personnel to service customers while complying with all DOT regulations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises, directs and controls activities of driver personnel to meet customer service standards 

Directs activities of drivers by telephone

Conducts accident/injury investigations.

Compiles list of available vehicles.

Assigns vehicles according to factors such as length and purpose of trip, freight or passenger requirements, and preference of user.

Issues keys, record sheets, and credentials to drivers.

Records time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return.

Confers with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed, or damaged product.

Issues equipment to drivers such as fire extinguishers, locks, tools and tool boxes, flashlights "tarps", chains and cables. 

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws and ensures compliance with DOT regulations.

Manage vehicles preventive maintenance and repairs schedules

Assists with entering data for reporting purposes

Performs other duties as assigned by Manager.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises activities of Drivers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondences. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Wide variety of routine tasks that involve some choice of action within limits.

  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee who normally performs the essential functions of this type of job. WORK ENVIRONMENT
