The man behind Bonus Tax Pros is Victor Bonus. Victor earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of the East, in Manila, the Philippines graduating Magna Cum Laude. He quickly passed the Accountancy Board in 1973 and received his CPA certificate that same year. He soon joined the prestigious SyCip, Gorres, Velayo and Company (SGV). SGV was (is) the major public accounting and auditing firm in Asia and is the local counterpart of the US Big Four accounting firms.

At the time he left SGV, Victor Bonus had the rank of Senior Auditor. From there, he worked with different companies in various accounting and controllership roles, 23 years of these were in the USA. His studies and work experience made him well versed with US GAAP.  GAAP is Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and it is the standard for recording transactions to be compliant with the SEC, Federal Regulations and audit by CPAs.  If a business departs from GAAP, it risks misstating its assets and profit which can get it in trouble with the regulators.

Frugal may not be a positive word when juxtaposed with the word generous. But if applied on taxes, Victor believes it to be the right attitude.
